Why did British troops continue to occupy forts in the Northwest Territory during the 1780's A. Britain felt the need to defend Canada from Spanish invasion up the Mississippi River.
B. The peace treaty following the Revolutionary War gave the forts to Britain.
C. The troops had no way home, since the American victory had forced the British ships to leave American territory.
The United States seemed to be too weak to stop them
