Read and Respond to the following:
This is the Preamble of the Constitution (the introductory paragraph of the Constitution):
"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish
justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the
general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do
ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
The first three words, "We the people", were very significant for that time. They
signified that this new country and it's government were for all people. Since it's
conception over 200 years ago do you still feel that the ideas listed in the
Preamble apply to American's lives today? Why or why not?
