John L. Sullivan is an icon or a legend in the world of heavy weight boxing. He was known as "Boston Strong Boy" but found later in his career to becoming addicted to alcohol and to selling alcoholic beverages (prohibition). Later on in his retirement, he had become an actor, speaker, and a prohibition lecturer.

John Lawrence Sullivan or the Boston Strong Boy initially felt that the alcohol prohibition was unnecessary.

At that time, he was still a heavy drinker of alcoholic beverages. Later in his career, he realized the danger of too much drinking and started campaigning for prohibition.

Thus, John L. Sullivan did not feel okay with the 18th Amendment, which prohibited the manufacture and sale of alcohol, but reconsidered his stance and began to support prohibition after realizing the danger posed by alcoholism.
