During the late 19th and early 20th century America became an industrial power. There was very little government regulation of industry during this period. Several prominent men such as John Rockefeller, J. P. Morgan, and Andrew Carnegie became very wealthy and powerful. Historians have debated whether these people were an overall positive to the U. S. Some of the elite industrialist were J.P. Morgan, Andrew Carnegie,  John Rockefeller and many more. These industrialist became rich through ruthless as well as unscrupulous business practices during 19th century. During this time, the US government put little regulation on industries. Their wealth were made at the expense of working class by the betrayal of the democracy and by the chickanery.
