How did President Woodrow Wilson’s hopes for the negotiations following World War 1 conflict with the realities of those negotiations?

But, his peaceful solution of problems wasn't accepted by many countries, especially those who won the war. Britain, France and many others believed that Germany and its allies should be heavily punished.
