Many Americans were angered by Andrew Jackson’s policy of forced removal of American Indians from their land. Take the position of one such American in 1839 and write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper, protesting the removal of the Cherokees from their land to the new Indian Territory in present day Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska.
