February is National Black History Month. Which African American do you feel should be recognized for their contributions to history? Why? Please write a 7 sentence response.

I feel like it should be Frederick Douglas.  Frederick Douglas helped people escape on the underground railroad.  Many times he was close to being caught along with others.  He escaped from his owners in Maryland.  He became a prominent activist, author and, public speaker.  He even has a High school named after him because of all his great accomplishments In Lexington Kentucky.
