Read the following paragraph from the section "The Battle Of San Jacinto."
On April 21, some 500 reinforcements arrived in the Mexican camp, raising troop strength to about 1,300. When Houston didn't attack at first light, Santa Anna assumed there would be no battle that day. The Mexicans relaxed and rested.
