PLEASE HELP 50 POINTSD= In this project, you will use a graphic organizer to compare and contrast the technological changes caused by the Industrial Revolution with those currently being caused by the technological revolution today (such as computers, smartphonese, Internet, etc.). You will also list the effects those changes have had on society. Use what you have learned in this unit to complete the sections about the Industrial Revolution.

Then, you will conduct Internet research to find one source about today's technological revolution, so that you are able to use that information to complete the other half of the graphic organizer. Using the Internet (or your local library, if you prefer), find one source about today's technological revolution. You might look for newspaper or magazine articles, or editorial pieces published about the topic.

Take notes on the causes and effects that the technological revolution has had on society.

Before You Begin
When you read material about specialized subjects, such as history or technology, you will likely come across words that are new to you. When this happens, it is important to use an appropriate reference material to define or clarify the meaning of the word. The type of reference material you select will depend on the information you need, the location of the unknown word, and what your purpose is.

Type of Reference When Do You Use It?
Dictionary • A dictionary is a reference book (or online source) that provides a word's definition, pronunciation, part of speech, and origin.
• You can use a dictionary to quickly locate an unknown word that you have come across when reading an article, book, or other text.
Glossary • A glossary is a list of specialized words and their definitions, related to a specific subject. Glossaries are often located at the back of a textbook, defining key words that were used in the text.
• You can use a glossary whenever one is present in the text you are reading, to define an unknown, subject-specific word.
• Glossaries can be especially helpful if you need to know the subject-specific definition of a word. For example, a word may mean something very different in a science book than it does in a history book.
Thesaurus • A thesaurus is a reference book (or online source) that provides a word's synonyms, or other words that have the same definition. Some thesauruses also include the word's antonyms, or words with the opposite meaning.
• A thesaurus can be helpful if you are looking for a word's synonyms, in order to better understand its meaning. Or, if you are working on a piece of writing, the thesaurus can help you find new words to increase the variety of word choice. As you are reading your source, anytime you come across an unknown word, pause for a moment. Use one or more of the above reference sources to help you understand the word's meaning. Keep a list of the words and their definitions; you will turn in this list later. Also, feel free to print out your source if possible. This way, you are able to highlight important ideas or take notes if needed. This is a close reading strategy that can help you organize the key points of a text.
