Pretend you are a colonist in Texas during the Texas Revolution in 1836. You have just received news that Texas won the Battle of San Jacinto. Write a journal entry about what this means for the future of Texas (how do you feel about it? what do you think this means for Texas? what should Texas do as an independent Republic?).

1836, the luckiest year for texans we just won the revolution we are now finally our own state. I am filled with an overwhelming amount of joy who knows whats in store. We dont  have to live by anyone elses  rules, Texans can make thier own. We should first set up a goverment , a sheriff department, tax collecters and jobs.
