They also developed democracy, which is one of the systems we use today. Their art shows the value they put in life, as they saw philosophy as a very important subject while many others focused on war. They were also the greatest trade hub in all of Greece, with easy access by sea. The Middle East served as a pushing factor for all of Greece during the Greco- Persian wars where the greeks were forced to confront differences for independence.
