Similarities and differences between arawaks and caribs

I researched this question and took a long time lol but i  found many differences and discrepancies as to the tribal names and the locations of native Americans inhabited. This includes the north and south American continents as a whole.

It appears that the indigenous people of the Caribbean islands were all classified as Caribe Indians by the Spaniards. Thus, there is no distinction between them and Arawaks. The true distinction is from Arawaks and Taino's. Both inhabited the Caribbean Sea islands. The Taino’s were mostly in the eastern Caribbean on islands like Puerto Rico and Hispaniola, while the Arawaks inhabited the western islands like Cuba and Jamaica. On the Island of Cuba, they appear to overlap. However, I also saw maps showing the reverse to be true. Most Puerto Ricans consider their native relatives to be Taino. It appears that the Taino Indians were spared the near genocide of the Spanish compared to the Arawaks because you can still see strong genetic traits of their presence among Puerto Ricans. However, you don’t see the same among Jamaicans and Cubans where the inhabitants were almost totally replaced by African slaves.
