Why we say Black lives matter, and not All lives matter. The point of Black Lives Matter isn't to suggest that black lives should be or are more important than all other lives, which most people who misunderstand might think. Instead, it’s simply pointing out that black people's lives are relatively undervalued in the US. If I cut my knee, both of our knees matter, but my knee needs the band-aid. So in this situation, the BLM movement is the band-aid. All lives do matter, but that's not the point. Black lives are treated like they don't matter, so it doesn't help when you say ALM. If all lives matter, black lives wouldn't be mistreated.
