A large majority of the globe has stamped out segregation of race and gender, and have become generally accepting of all ideals that had been seen as taboo many decades ago. One example of a social norm change is the fact that segregation is no longer practiced in most, if not all, countries across the globe. Through political campaigns, protests, and even riots, the social norms of the eighteenth century and nineteenth century changed from segregation to integration. Another example of how social norms have changed is the fact that women are no longer expected to serve as traditional housewives, and can now be independent without being outcast by society. Social norms are still changing even nowadays, allowing America to be even freer than it was during the 1900s.
