I chose topic 2 because I want to learn more about the significance of the Battle of Gettysburg. I also want to better understand its connection to the Gettysburg Address. I learned that the Battle of Gettysburg was a huge battle fought over three days in Pennsylvania, a Northern state. The Union won the battle. On both sides, the casualties were high. More than 50,000 soldiers died. The battlefield became a cemetery for the fallen soldiers. President Lincoln spoke at the dedication ceremony for the cemetery, and his speech became known as the Gettysburg address.
