In examining various civil liberties cases, it is evident that there have been numerous times in US history when Americans have seen some of their basic rights restricted through government actions resulting from the intention to keep Americans safe. Was the government justified in taking those actions? Is there any risk in allowing the government to restrict liberty even during times of national crisis?
