1. The Kansas-Nebraska act created the two new states of Kansas and Nebraska, which violated the Missouri compromise as one potential slave state that was created went above the 36°30′ parallel. In fact, the act repealed the Missouri Compromise as a whole.

The people who favored the Missouri Compromise would obviously be upset by its repealing, but what got people really riled up was the decision to allow Kansas and Nebraska to vote for themselves on whether to be a slave or free state. When this news came out, hundreds of pro and anti slavers rushed into the territories to sway the vote. When these two sides came to a head, violence broke out, which led to Bleeding Kansas.
