One message that Lincoln communicated to the United States during his famous Gettysburg Address was the dedication of the cemetery on the battlefield site of the fallen soldiers. This is relevant to the connection of the people within the country because Lincoln made it a point to show how the soldiers in the past fought hard for our country, and that we should respect them and how they fought for us. In the Gettysburg Address, Lincoln states "but it can never forget what they did here" which is Lincoln communicating the importance of our fallen soldiers building this country. Speaking about these fallen soldiers helped the rest of the country unite because this topic was something everyone could agree on and respect. Therefore, Lincoln was able to take a large step in re-uniting the country at the time.
