Firstly there was the elimination of all political opposition. Hitler saw democracy as a weak and ineffective system as evidenced by the failures associated by the Weimar Republic.

Secondly total control and full exploitation of the mass media. Hitler was one of the first politicians to fully appreciate and exploit the mass media. He used an aeroplane to criss-cross Germany addressing crowds in several cities in a day. The Volkesmpfanger, a very cheap radio, was mass produced so everyone could afford one.

There was finally his policy on race aimed primarily at the Jews in Europe which would lead finally to 6 million deaths. Half baked philosophies such as aryanism and eugenics argued that the Germans and other aryan races were superior and had to eliminate sub-human races such as Jews, Romas, Slavs, etc in order to preserve their dominance and purity.
