Having completed a three-week training program with French forces, the 369th Brigade went into actual combat on April 15, 1918, hardly a month from the first major battle in the American Expeditionary Forces. It was the Hellfighters who participated in the French counterattack, in which the regiment lost 14 members, while 51 more sustained injuries.
