After the American Revolution, the people of the colonies wanted their independence. Along came several documents. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Theses documents outline Constitutional rights and laid the foundation for our democratic government. The United States were also able to establish new rules and laws that would protect the independence of the people.

In a pure democracy, a government is almost powerless.
