World War II changed life for many women and African Americans since it enabled them to work in non-traditional jobs.

World War II provided  a wide range of unprecedented opportunities for American women to perform jobs that had never  been open to women prior to this event, especially in the defense industry. For instance: 350,000 women served in the armed forces during World War II.
