During the french and indian war, france and great britain fought for control of north american territory. what impact did the end of the war have on the american colonies? all of the british colonial possessions in north america were given to the french. great britain imposed new taxes on the colonists to pay its war debts. the british government found the colonists were happier with their rule after the war. trade between the french and the american colonists increased once the war was over.
