In the United States, the cabinet is made up of principal officers that are appointed by the president. These appointed offers takes charge of different departments in the executive branch of the government.

The responsibility of the cabinet is to advise the US President on matters that have to do with individuals department.

Traditionally, the cabinet is comprises of the vice president, and various head of the department. In the United States, the departments are 15 which include veteran affairs, treasury, transportation, state, labor, interior, homeland security, education, energy, agriculture, health and human service, housing and urban development, justice and defense.

There are other important offices in the presidency that are part of the cabinet. They include the US ambassador to the United Nations, the chair of the council of Economic advisers, administrator of the environmental protection agency and the white house chief of staff.

However, cabinet members appointed by the president are subject to the senate approval. A majority votes by the senates is required to appoint any member of the cabinet. Each member of the cabinet is addressed by the title “secretary” but the only member that does not take the title is the Attorney General, who is in charge of the department of justice.
