Plato believed that society should be governed by wise people, particularly the philosophers. He argues that rulers should be educated and knowledgeable to be able to lead people. Wise men at least would understand the underlying issues of society and come up with solutions. Uneducated wealthy people, he says, would not be able to understand what society needs because they would not have any experience or knowledge about what it is like to be them.
