Compare and contrast the response of the french people to the rule of louis xviii and the rule of charles.
i am really stuck on this question, and i just need a little explaining it.

Louis was an absolute monarch who believed that his authority was derived from god. he was not limited by a constitution or a delegation of noblemen(parliament). charles was still technically an absolute monarch but he could not pass ridiculous laws without upsetting the nobles. his constant suppressing of the nobles led to the english civil war, where he was overthrown and then executed. *note: the english parliament was essentially a delegation of nobles who expressed their concerns to the king. if the king did not fulfill their needs, he would be dealing with a possible baronial revolt, like what happened in 1215 with king john.
