How did western nations come to dominate much of the world in the late 1800s

The main reason western nations were able to dominate much of the world during the 19th century was industrialization. The manufacturing of textiles, steel, and practically anything that requires a machine, gave the west a major advantage over countries that relied strictly on farming.
