During the British colonial period, Aborigines were persecuted with their land stolen and many of them killed. With little rights, the population dwindled and by the 1900s the natives were a small minority in their own land.

By 1960s, liberal activists supported native causes and by 1962, they were finally given the right to vote for the first time. As they got representation in the government, they were better assimilated into the society, with the first aboriginals becoming part of the government in the 1970s

Today, there are no formal frictions between the Australian government and the Aborignies, however, the group is considered a minority having lost most of their culture, language and traditions.

The group is also among the poorest ethnicities in Australia with limited access to proper housing and medical facilities.

European settlers arrived in Australia in the 1700s. The mid-1800s was a period of rapid growth, with large numbers of immigrants. Aboriginal Australians currently represent only a small percentage of the country’s overall population. In many cases, traditional Aboriginal lands were taken by European settlers. Aboriginal Australians have been treated for many years as second-class citizens. Aborigines were granted citizenship in Australia in 1967. Aboriginal Australians seek equal educational and governmental opportunities.

so, although the first graphic located at the left side indicates that not so many people work in industry, this is the second most important sector according to the gdp metrics because of the monetary value that impacts on its country. it does not need to be the most valuable one. if it makes an impact on the country's economy, it will be definitely crucial to it.
