Explanation:

The International Court of Justice is the main judicial organ of the United Nations. It was established in 1945 in The Hague (The Netherlands), being the continuation, from 1946, of the Permanent Court of International Justice.

Its main functions are to solve by means of rulings the disputes submitted by the States (contentious procedure) and to issue opinions or advisory opinions to respond to any legal issue that may be raised by the General Assembly or the Security Council, or by the specialized agencies that have been authorized by the General Assembly in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations (advisory procedure). The Statute of the International Court of Justice is an integral part of that Charter, located in Chapter XXV. By virtue of Article 30 of the Statute, the Court adopted on April 14, 1978, a regulation that determined the manner in which it exercised its functions and, in particular, its rules of procedure. The official languages of the court are French and English.
