The Crimean war started off with Russian threat to many European nations along with building up its pressure on Turkey. This was result of increasing pressure by Russia on Turkey and by this interest of the British was threatened in Middle East and India. France further provoked this issue for prestige purposes and used this war to cement its Britain in order to grow its Military power.  

After this, Anglo-France forces covered all the areas of Istanbul and secured them as they were going to attack Russia on the Black Sea. And in year 1854, These forces landed in Crimea because they had planned to destroy Russian Fleet inside time period of  six weeks just before withdrawing to Turkey. Russians had no choice but  to accept defeat as they lost around 500000 troops during this battle.  

Most of their soldiers died from diseases, Malnutrition and post this war the Russian economy was ruined and industries became incompetent to manufacture new artilary and the aims of allied power was only limited to securing Turkey and as a result of the Crimean War, Russia realized it needed to build up its military.
