Independent european traders who lived among the native americans

"Coureur des Bois" is the french term for "Runners of the Wood" who were independent European traders living among native Americans (Indians).

They were independent entrepreneurial French-Canadian woodsmen who ventured into the woods usually to trade European items for fur. Along they way, these traders learnt the practices and common trades of the native Americans.
