HELLPP!!! (AND PLEASE NO WEBSITES!) In the past 50 years the number of dolphins in the Black Sea has declined from an estimated million to about 200,000. We must improve the water quality, but how will it be possible financially and administratively when the Danube flows through eight countries, and 70 million people live within its drainage areas?
––Jon Thompson, "East Europe's Dark Dawn," National Geographic, June 1991

According to the author, cleaning up the Black Sea will be difficult because it will be expensive and because eight governments will have to agree on steps to take to solve the problem.

The early explorers in north america founded settlements and named them after places or people from their home country. they often added the word new to the town or city name from their home country. this is why we have place names such as new hampshire and new england in north america. the places they are named after tell you where in europe the explorers came from. for example, british settlers named the state of new hampshire after the english county called hampshire. spanish explorers named many settlements after catholic saints. for example, san francisco was named after saint francis of assisi, a twelfth-century catholic priest. make a list of places (states, regions, or towns) whose names show similar connections. make sure you find at least three to four places that show a connection to each of the three nations—spain, france, and england. you can start your research with these resources: maps of north america french place names in the united states spanish place names in the united states the new england colonies us colonial history

Igor stravinksy’s ballet, the rite of spring, featured clashing music, harsh sounds and deliberately ugly dancing. upon its premier, theater goers literally rioted in the seats of the venue. historians argue this moment is a “breaking point” where europe proves it is destined to be plunged into world war i. why would historians make such a claim? a people were genuinely angry that someone so bad at composing could make a ballet b the ballet represents colonialism. it showed the consequences of centuries of exploitation of non-european people. c the ballet represents the changing ideologies of modernity. the youth of europe breaking all the old rules and the old guard clinging on to the last bits of power d the ballet represents war itself. it drudged up old rivalries between the french and german peoples, inciting the lust for combat.
