his inaugural address on January 20, 1961. President John F. Kennedy laid out his plan
for America
"Let the world go forth that the torch has been passed to a new generation of
Americans born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter
peace...let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we will pay any
price, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of
liberty...al this will not be finished in the first 100 days. Not will it be finished in
the first 1,000 days...but let us begin...and so my fellow Americans-ask not what
your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country,
