The answer is D. The first Punic war saw the seizure of Sicily from Carthage, and later, Rome gained control over Corsica and Sardinia by helping Carthage deal with a revolt. Before the second Punic war, Carthage had conquered most of modern day Spain, the second Punic war was the longest and most hard fought one, however, Rome still won. Rome immediately seized all of the lands Carthage had conquered in modern day Spain. Rome engaged in wars with the Illyrians (the civilization across the Adriatic) and the Greeks. Rome got land from them as well. Then Rome ended it all by the third Punic war which ended in the complete destruction of Carthage.
