In many states, smoking has been banned in public places like restaurants. Some people who go to restaurants would like to smoke inside. Others don’t want to breathe the smoke. Restaurant don’t want to lose any customers. The tobacco companies want people to buy cigarettes. The state doesn’t want people to get cancer from smoking, but it also wants sales tax money from cigarettes. What is the common good in this example?
