How did slavery change the traditional way of life for africans in north america

they were no longer able to participate in as many cultural practices that they had originally. they no longer lived with family members as often times slave masters would sell families away from each other. they did not live on their own land, or plant there own food. the stripping of their culture, their ties to their land, and family changed their way of life completely.

the nationalists wanted a strong central government so the new country wouldn't fall apart.
