How did newspapers, like the ones that ben franklin put out, enlightenment ideas to spread faster

Benjamin Franklin newspaper the Pennsylvania Gazette and other helped in spreading the ideas and thoughts in the colonies which helped settlers in getting acquainted with the outside world as well as the matters of the colonies. The newspaper in the colonies benefited the settlers in questioning the British government with their rules and regulations which they practice in the colonies. Newspapers served in uniting the colonists to overthrow the English by declaring war and getting independence.
