Equally important, many Protestants viewed church-state alliances as a way to offer a particular sect—such as Congregationalists in New England—special privileges, rather than to permit various denominations to practice their religion peaceably.
4. aristocratic titles.
After the revolution almost all aristocratic titles were done away with. In the Constitution it says that all are created equal. Therefore the colonists did not see the reason for these titles. In fact, George Washington (the first president) was told he was going to be call "His highness, the president of the united states." Washington did not like this title of honor and told them just to call the the president of the US. I think it was also getting rid of these titles such as , lord, duchess, duke, highness, etc. was a way for the young nation to cut ties with england.
