Because if the earth was flat, the world would always be day. If you look up into the sky in the day, the sun slowly goes around the earth in an arch angle resulting in a round earth. Like at 12:00pm, it is in the middle of the sky. At 6:00pm, it is at the end of the earth, which makes the earth round. Plus, the earth orbits the sun. I couldn't imagine a flat earth revolving around the sun. Plus, the ocean water would be falling off the edge of the earth if it was flat
