hey i submitted my essay and my teacher says it has some plagiarism in it and i dont know where can somebody check this for me? here it is in 1799, Napoleon's soldiers found the stone. stones were full of birds, animals and geometric shapes. What looked like a text full of words that couldn't be translated yet. Initially, Greek scholars were completely wrong in their theory. "The Greeks have decided in their own agreement that the symbol must be a kind of pictogram" (11). The Greeks had to add their own definition to the hieroglyphs. In addition, a Greek writer named Horapollo thought that the image of a goose represented son. Then he thought that the carved image of the rabbit meant that it was open, because the rabbit's eyes were never closed. Many copies of the stone were made, and all French soldiers first decided to translate the hieroglyphs. One of the soldiers, Sylvestre de Sassy, had some ideas. He believed that once he chose a name, he could identify the meaning of some letters and hopefully translate other names and words in the demotic passages. The process of organizing the Rossetta stone was difficult but they eventually figured it out.
