Tenochtitlán was the capital of the aztec empire. it was a busy and bustling city where“there are daily more than 60,000 souls, buying and selling, and where are found all the kinds of merchandise produced in these countries.” when cortes arrived in 1519, theenormity of the trading market and the smoothness of it’s running both surprised and  impressed him.

The renaissance was a major turn in history. many new ideas and technological advances came into place. it was a time of new thinking, where many were inspired by enlightenment beliefs. most people were branching out from what the government or the catholic church was saying, and using science to answer questions about the world around them. it was also a time when the arts were booming. artists, musicians, mathematicians, philosophers, and historians were becoming more and more of a respected society. the renaissance was a major turn in history.
