By the revolutionary period, what percentage of white men in the colonies could read and write

In the data obtained by Kevin Lockridge, who used official records to make his book Literacy in Colonial New England, he found these data: about white men in New England, almost 60 percent were literate, from 1650 to 1670, and that number with the years was ignited as the century was over, reaching 100% by the way in major cities like Boston at the turn of the century. So we can assume that all the men of the colonies during the Revolution were already literate and knew at least the basics of reading and writing, which would be very useful for revolutionaries in the proposals and warnings that would spread in the colonies. A very different case was for women, who until 1810 were literate a century later, and still more time would pass for slaves once they were free men.
