What was a result of the great compromise during the constitutional convention of 1787

The House of Representatives would be divided among the states according to their population and would be elected directly by the people. The House of Representatives was the only house of Congress that could write bills to create taxes.

In the Senate, each state, regardless of size, population, or wealth, would have two members. The Senators would be chosen by the state legislatures.

The compromise was reached to address the feeling from the smaller states that their interests would be drowned out by the larger states.
