Can you imagine a policy the british could have adopted that would have bolstered british finances without incurring the wrath of the colonists?

The colonists started their revolts against British Rule particularly because they argued that they were being imposed heavy taxes and receiving no political benefits in exchange. In other words, they did not feel represented towards the crown of Great Britain.

If the British would have established a system of political representation in their parliament, as well as an escalated tax structure, which imposed higher rates over greater income, the colonists would probably have delayed or even ceased their plans to overthrow British Rule.
