How did the development of a market economy change the lives of artisans and farm families?

The development of the market economy changed the lives of artisans and farm families as:
1- The dependence on the economy decreased (they became less independent on the economy)
2- instead of only making and growing everything they needed, they made a surplus and sold for profit.
