These citizens were put into internment camps within US borders even though they did not break any laws. President Roosevelt felt that this was an issue of national security.

Towards the end of the war, a Japanese American citizens sued the federal government. Korematsu argued that the internment of Japanese American citizens violated several constitutional rights. However, the Supreme Court ruled against him at this time.
