Whats the history about jrotc?

The JROTC or the Junior Reserve Officers Training Core is a military programme that is implemented in most high schools across the USA. It was started as part of the National Defence Act in 1916. Its aim was, and is to prepare students for a career in the military. The curriculum aims to instil the value of citizenship, personal responsibility,  and service to the USA.  The curriculum has changed to accommodate the changes in modern warfare. Students are now taught the skills of critical thinking and problem solving, where in the past, the students learnt to follow authority and not deviate from what was said by the commanding officers
