Can someone tell what kind of energy tires sliding on pavement is when the brakes are applied. i'm pretty sure it is heat energy but doubting myself.

When the tyres are in contact with the pavement they are experiencing a constant force of kinetic friction. When the brakes on the moving vehicle are applied, a large force of friction is applied in the opposite direction of movement. This increase of friction can be calculated as energy lost. When the vehicle loses energy due to friction, the energy can be released not only as heat energy but as sound energy.

So you are partly correct in saying that it will be in the form of heat, but it can also be in the form of sound energy
