African Americans gained the right to vote through the Civil War Amendments, which are the thirteenth amendment that abolished slavery and the fourteenth amendment that granted full citizenship to African-Americans and the fifteenth amendment guaranteed the right to vote to men regardless of their race, color, or previous condition of servitude.
