In the year 1914, conflicts began between the Allied and German leaders. The war extended to fights on sea and air, leading to killings and loss of lives in thousands. After the Armistice was signed at Le Francport in November 11, 1918, the war between the Allied and German leaders came to an end. At that time, the German military force was experiencing setbacks and were no longer effective. The Secretary of state, Matthias Erzberger was secretly making some negotiations to ensure that the war comes to an end. The German emperor, Kaiser Wilhelm II gave up by renouncing his throne and  Matthias Erzberger was authorized to sign the Armistice on the terms of the Allies.  So, signing the Armistice was considered a complete defeat for the Germans, though they never admitted to the defeat.
